THE Lock Community Health and Welfare Centre has recently had a facelift.
Due to water restrictions, the lawn area had died and become unsightly as well as uneven and dangerous for people to walk on, so it was decided a fresh look was needed.
This entailed the removal of the old lawn area, which has been replaced by extensive paving and garden beds that have been planted with a large variation of waterwise plants.
A contractor completed the paving while the landscaping and gardening has been completed by volunteers from the Health Advisory Committee and other community members who freely offered their assistance.
Committee chairman Jamie Siviour said it was a credit to the Elliston District Council, the Health Advisory Committee and the community to work together for this end result.
“We have a great facility here and to have given the health centre this fresh new look has been fantastic,” he said.
Like all other health service providers within the State, the Lock Health Centre is awaiting the final outcomes of the Country Health Plan to see what its position is in regard to health care for the Lock community.
“Basically the services we provide from the health centre will not change and may even be expanded,” Mr Siviour said.
“We provide mainly primary healthcare services, which is the model the Country Health Care Plan is promoting so I can see little change to what we are doing now.”
