Wayback v Tasman, Saturday, Ravendale 2.40pm
IF ever the Tasman Roosters needed to beat the Kings of Ravendale, their arch rivals Waybacks, since 1946 it is this Saturday, for a finals berth depends on it.
Tasmans take on the Mallee Park Peckers in the last of the minor rounds and they simply don’t have the leg speed to beat the Peckers.
Unfortunately the Roosters may be without their best and leader of the midfield Matty James, who turned his ankle against Marble Range, and took no further part after coming off in the second quarter.
Tasmans’ back half, led by Matt Dodd and Craig Reincke, will have their hands full with the Demons building on their goal scoring power with seven goal kickers on the list last week, led by Murray Kelsh, Rohan Montgomerie and Kane Williams, with Stuart Green back in form bagging four goals last week.
The Demons’ midfield, led by Matthew Goodwin and Brad Davidson, will ensure the Demons get plenty of drive and the Roosters’ Adam Vonow, and the underrated Peter Davey will need to find plenty of the ball to be the equal of the Demon engine room.
The three players for the Roosters that can put them in with a big chance are Brad Cimarosti, Brett McConnell and Ross Campbell.
The overall view is that the Demons look stronger in the midfield, have the height in the ruck department, and have a good mix of goal kicking forwards.
Tip: the Roosters are a determined lot and can match up with the Demons, but the word is out that the Demons are ready to produce their early season form, and as Kings of Ravendale, have no intention of abdicating.
